It was about this time last year that I was at the Book Expo in New York. I was working at Starbucks at the time and enjoying revisiting my past as a bookseller for the weekend. Book Expo is kinda like Woodstock for book lovers, you get to check out all the major publishers, find out what books are coming out that year, get freebies left and right and attend countless book signings.
One such book signing last year was with the lovely and stylish Stacy London of What Not to Wear fame. Coming off a half day at the coffee shop I knew I was not dressed my best and was a little hesitant to meet the lady of all things fashion, but on the other hand I am a huge fan and didn’t want to pass up the opportunity.
Turns out I was worried for nothing, Stacy had this wonderful charm and amazing ability to zero in on something positive and beautiful about everyone who was waiting to meet her, she was even able to do the same with me, complementing me on my necklace.
It was a simple gold colored necklace of two birds perched on a curved branch, either end of the branch attached to the chain that circled my neck. She even asked me where I found it. When I told her that I got it at H&M for about $6 her eyes shot open. I smiled and told her that I am the queen of junk jewelry. I am cheap but I want to look high class. She asked me if I had a blog, at the time I didn’t so she advised that I start one, something to guide people on how to find affordable and unique accessories.
Well it took me a year Ms. London, but here it is, my accessories blog. (OOOOHH I get to go shopping!) Everything that I post here will be widely available and affordable ( I will try and keep everything under $25). Enjoy!
